This quaint town and the surrounding region offer a wide variety of activities within a very short distance. In our small town of Moss Landing you can take a walk on the beach, take wildlife tours, go boating, eat delicious meals, shop for antiques, enjoy live music, ride horses on the beach, visit an art gallery, and take in a sunset on the ocean. We are only 15 minutes from Monterey, 20 minutes from Carmel and 25 minutes from Santa Cruz.
A short drive takes you wine tasting in the Salinas and Carmel Valleys, golfing on championship courses, biking, to strawberry fields, for giant artichokes, to the Monterey Bay Aquarium, the Laguna Seca Raceway, California Rodeo in Salinas, Bonfante Gardens. And there is so much more you will want to visit us more than once.

Bird Watching - Elkhorn Slough watershed lies within the Pacific flyway for migrating birds. Elkhorn Slough and the surrounding areas serve as a resting, feeding, and breeding ground to hundreds of different species of birds year round!

Elkhorn Slough Safari - See sea otters, seals, and all sorts of birds on a tour of the Elkhorn Slough aboard a 27 foot Pontoon Boat. A Naturalist tells stories about the history and wildlife of the area.

Dining - There are seven restaurants with delightful offerings from fresh seafood to fine steaks, from sandwiches to delicious Mexican food, homemade pastas to best burgers. Fresh seafood can be had at every corner. We will provide you a artichoke dining guide, so you can enjoy another specialty of our region.

Beach Combing - Enjoy the beautiful sunsets and the beauty of the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary from local beaches.
Whale Watching - Sanctuary Cruises offers whale watching tours year round, cruise the bay with experts for whales, dolphins, birds and more, leaving from the Moss Landing Harbor in a steady catamaran.

Sport Fishing - Tom's Sport Fishing offers fishing trips leaving from Moss Landing Harbor. They catch albacore, salmon, rockcod, and more depending on the season. You can also fish from the jetty and from the beaches.
Antique Shopping - Shop for treasures in over 13 antique shops within Moss Landing on Moss Landing Road, including shops just across the street from the Captain's Inn. There are also several art studios.
Music - Many of the restaurants feature local artists including jazz, blues, classical, and bluegrass.

Surfing - The beaches in Moss Landing are a popular surfing destination. Waves for riding and watching.
History - As this town has been here well over 150 years, there are lots of stories and sites from the past.
Hiking/Jogging - There is a loop route from the Inn that offers
pretty views, beach, sand dunes, and marshes.

Elkhorn Slough Visitor Center - This wilderness reserve includes a visitor center, hiking trails, and docent guided walks.
Gallop on the Beach - Well trained horses take you along the beach and surf at a local Moss Landing beach.
Kayaking - Boats are available for rent in the North side of the Moss Landing Harbor.
Golfing - Bayonet and Blackhorse Golf Course is just South and offers our guests a discount play, Pajaro Valley Golf Course is just North
Castroville - This historic small town is home to more good dining such as La Scuola, the GIANT Artichoke, the artichoke festival in May, and a weekend flea market.
